This omelette fills you up, just like Shaq's dunking fills a basketball hoop. In addition, if one were to eat these omelettes on a regular basis, because of their bacon-soaked glory, they would probably end up to be about Shaq's size. Just like Shaq's appearance in LA to play for the Lakers, this omelette looks California-esque on the outside, until you realize all that's inside. Shaquille O'Neal Omelette
eggs bacon yellow onions bell pepper mushrooms spinach tomato avocado smoked paprika I started by cooking all of the bacon, so that it had time to cool & harden while making the rest of the ingredients. Plus, it meant both of our omelettes got to be cooked in bacon grease - score! I started by sauteeing the onions and pepper in a large pan, and then added baby bella mushrooms and spinach. The smoked paprika was dusted on top to finish it off. Sam made the omelettes (in the bacon grease) and we stuffed them with all of the pan friend ingredients as well as fresh grape tomatoes and avocado. Optional: add some chipotle tabasco sauce on top!

This omelette has got a bit of a southwestern kick to it, just like Manu. This omelette is "normal" until you add hot sauce to it, not unlike the Spurs.
Manu Ginobili Rookie Omelette Ingredients eggs mushrooms (sauteed in garlic) spinach polish sausage (or other sausage) cheddar cheese (real or fake, to your liking) hot sauce I sauteed up the mushrooms and polish sausage in garlic while steaming the spinach in a separate pan. Sam made the omelettes and we stuffed these bad boys FULL. Finish with a dollop of hot sauce. Or five. I think I win for the longest blog post title. But this omelette wins for also being a sandwich. WHAAATT??? Yeah, that's right. Rajon Rondo Omelette... with a sandwich INSIDE. Whoa. This omelette was named for Rondo because he's kind of crazy. But he's also realllly good. And probably other facts and basketball and things that I don't remember that Sam said.
Moral of the story: make this. Then eat it. Whatcha doin' Rando here? Rajon Rando Rookie Omelette Ingredients eggs bread minced garlic spinach deli turkey avocado peanut butter* So you make a typical omelette and sprinkle spinach (sauteed with garlic) on the inside. Then you toast the bread and make a sandwich with the avocado on one side and the peanut butter on the other, putting deli turkey in the middle. Cut the sandwich in half and put it inside of the omelette. Cook for a while longer. Enjoy. Note: Sam has been asking to put peanut butter in an omelette for a while, but I haven't been game. This is the first time we tried it and I think we both agreed that it would be better without (especially because of the garlic and avocado... don't judge, Rando is a rookie). Stay tuned for a better peanut butter omelette in the future! Our latest omelette creation. Sweet, salty, a bit understated. This one's for you, Grant Hill.
Grant Hill Rookie Omelette Ingredients eggs carmelized apples & ham (brown sugar & butter + sauté) chopped pistachios feta Notes: The pistachios were a dream of ours, but we don't think they were well noted in this omelette. They were overwhelmed by the ham & apples, which in and of themselves, were freaking delicious. We made this with some Thanksgiving leftovers. This omelette was simple, classy, and of course with bacon, it was well-liked. Just like Steve Nash. Steve Nash Rookie Omelette
Ingredients eggs bacon green onions asparagus We fried up the bacon while cooking the first omelette so it could get cool and get crispy before we chopped it and added it to the omelette. We chopped the asparagus and green onions into small pieces and cooked them together. So good. Notes: We thought about trying it with basil in the future. We also recognize that this omelette, like most foods, would probably be better with cheese. We recommend swiss for those that can consume dairy. We envy you, but hope you enjoy it. Sam and I took another swing at omelette making. If you're wondering where the name came from, read this.
Russel Westbrook Rookie Omelette Ingredients eggs red peppers smoked paprika pepper deli turkey (we used sundries tomato) feta cheese Cook like omelettes. Eat like omelettes. [Also, check out our Holland/Adam spoof below. Don't worry, it's just because I like them a lot.] Top reasons why I will never be a food blogger: 1. I don't take pictures of food on wooden floors 2. I've blogged twice in the last month... none of which was related to food 3. I name the foods I make long annoying names that have almost nothing to do with what they are made of On that note, I'd like to present to you the Scottie Pippen Rookie Omelette! Sam and I are on an omelette mission right now and per my suggestion (who am I?) we are naming all of our omelettes after famous (questionable) basketball players. The rookie bit just means it's our first go at this particular recipe. There are reasons the omelettes relate to their namesake, just don't ask me about it. Scottie Pippen Rookie Omelette
Ingredients eggs brown sugar & butter for caramelizing white onions red apples red peppers poblano peppers cinnamon feta cheese Sam was the omelette master, while I put the slices of red apples and white onions in a pan with the brown sugar & butter. We put red peppers and poblano peppers in a pan with some olive oil and cinnamon. After all of the pans were done cooking, we put all of the ingredients inside of the omelettes with a bit of feta. Notes: If we were to do this again, we would have cooked the apples less than we did this time; we would have added them after the onions were almost cooked. We also want to experiment with red onions. |
